Who Can Apply: The purpose of the Detroit HBCU Scholarship Endowment Fund is to provide 2 (two) annual, renewable, and need-based scholarships up to $5,000 (five-thousand dollars) to students graduating from a high school with a Detroit address or students transferring from a metro-Detroit community college to attend a partner HBCU.
- Applicant must be a graduating high school senior accepted to and planning to enroll at a Kresge Partner HBCU
- A metro-Detroit community college transfer student accepted to and planning to enroll at a Kresge Partner HBCU.
- A student currently enrolled full-time at a Kresge Partner HBCU.
- Has been accepted and enrolled in a Kresge Partner HBCU for the 2026-2027 Academic Year.
- Have a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
- Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (“FAFSA”) form for the 2026-2027 Academic Year and have a demonstrated, unmet financial need as verified by your institution.
Submission:
- Applicants are required to submit a letter of acceptance from a Kresge Partner HBCU.
- Submit a video no longer than 3 (three) minutes about what receiving this scholarship would mean to you and its impact on your future goals.
- A current or most recent academic transcript
