A quick two-minute recap of your in-season Post Athletics teams and where they stand after every week or two of competition on the field, on the court, on the ice, and more.
- The Testing Effect Instead of just re-reading notes, test yourself frequently. Create flashcards, take practice quizzes, or have someone quiz you. This forces your brain to actively retrieve information, strengthening memory pathways.
- The Feynman Technique Explain concepts in simple terms as if teaching a child. If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough. This reveals knowledge gaps and deepens comprehension.
- Spaced Repetition Review material at increasing intervals (1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks). This fights the forgetting curve and moves information into long-term memory more effectively than cramming.
Smart Scheduling Strategies
- The 2-Week Rule Start studying two weeks before your test. Break material into daily chunks and create a realistic study calendar. This prevents last-minute panic and allows time for multiple review cycles.
- Time Blocking Dedicate specific time slots to different subjects or topics. Use a timer for focused 25-50 minute study sessions with 5-10 minute breaks
- Peak Performance Hours Identify when you’re most alert and tackle difficult material during these times. Save easier review tasks for when your energy is lower.
Memory Enhancement Methods
- Visual Learning Create mind maps, diagrams, or flowcharts to organize information visually. Use colors and symbols to make connections memorable.
- Story Method Turn facts into stories or create acronyms. Your brain remembers narratives better than isolated facts.
- Practice in Context Study in conditions similar to your test environment. If it’s a written exam, practice writing by hand rather than typing.
Study Environment Optimization
- Eliminate Distractions Put your phone in another room, use website blockers, and find a quiet space. Your brain needs uninterrupted focus to form strong memories.
- Comfort Zone Balance Study in a comfortable but not too cozy environment. Avoid your bed or overly warm rooms that might make you drowsy.
- Multiple Locations Occasionally change your study location. Your brain creates more retrieval pathways when you learn in different environments.
These are just some ways to enhance your studying experience!
The Men’s Ice Hockey team hosted its annual benefit game on February 14, with all proceeds raised donated to Seymour Pink, an organization dedicated to fighting breast cancer.

Your inner sunshine doesn’t have to look big or perfect. It might be a favorite song, a short walk, a deep breath, or a text to someone who makes you smile. Notice what brings you warmth and give yourself permission to soak it in.
These small moments of care can help ground you, reset your energy, and send a ray of sunshine into your day.
