WATERBURY, Conn., February 2, 2026 — Post University announced that Mary Carr, JD has joined the organization as chief academic officer and provost in December.
Carr brings more than 15 years of higher education leadership experience, with a focus on academic operations, innovation, and student success. Most recently, she led academic operations at Strayer University, overseeing more than 25,000 students as senior vice provost for both the College of Business and the dean of Jack Welch Management Institute. In that role, she provided strategic leadership across faculty, curriculum, accreditation, and online learning operations and guided major initiatives, including learning management system transitions, reaccreditations, and new program launches, while consistently improving student outcomes and academic quality.

During her tenure at the Jack Welch Management Institute, the program consistently ranked among the nation’s top online MBA programs by The Princeton Review and Poets&Quants for nine consecutive years and expanded to serve students in more than 80 countries. Carr is recognized for her ability to build and scale degree and non-degree programs for Fortune 500 employees, designing workforce-aligned education that meets the evolving needs of today’s organizations.
Her program development experience includes high-impact concentrations in health care, AI in business, leadership, and strategy, helping bridge the gap between academics and real-world application for working professionals.
A first-generation college graduate, Carr is known for a leadership approach centered on high standards, accountability, and team empowerment.
Earlier in her career, Carr served as general counsel for a publicly traded health care corporation and practiced law in Boston. She holds a Juris Doctor, with a certificate in health law studies, from Saint Louis University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Boston College.
