Jeff Selingo is a New York Times bestselling author, producer of the higher ed newsletter Next and co-host of the podcast “Future U.” Here is his latest rave on an EdTech innovation:
As higher education debates how to define artificial intelligence literacy for students outside of technical fields, Boise State University offers an asynchronous course called “Applications of Artificial Intelligence,” delivered by an AI-generated avatar of the instructor who teaches students how AI is shaping work, creativity and decision-making. Assignments emphasize reflection and documentation – not just tool use – and students complete the program by assembling an AI portfolio they can present to prospective employers. The course is part of Boise State’s broader “Artificial Intelligence for All” certificate, open to students in every major, which familiarizes them with the foundational AI skills employers expect from new hires.
