- Over his life, Ed spent years serving his nation and community. He grew up in Stroudsburg and attended Stroudsburg High School, where he was part of the rifle club and graduated in 1962. He worked for his father at Monroe Optical after school and on weekends. After high school, Ed went on to serve in the Army National Guard while working at Patterson Kelley and part-time as a welder at Banner Metals in Stroudsburg.
- Ed later worked for the National Park Service, where an interest in helping others was sparked, leading him to join the West End Ambulance Corps and serve as president. Ed’s time with West End fostered a desire to develop more for his community, and he went on to become one of the first paramedics in Monroe County. He played an integral role in developing Medic 7, and he took the first medic call in Monroe County. Ed retired from both Medic 7 and West End as a lifetime member. He also served as a Deputy Coroner and a Diener for the Monroe County Coroner’s office.
