- Mental health services, treatment, and research are crucial for the well-being and development of our society.
- Gabe J. Maletta was a beloved grandfather who passed away ten years ago on May 18th. He dedicated his life to the tenants of kindness, patience, and servant leadership in all of his affairs. Gabe worked as a psychiatrist specializing in the study of the aging brain and diseases such as Alzheimer’s. A large part of his career was involved with the direct care of patients for the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- This scholarship aims to honor the life of Gabe J. Maletta by supporting students who are focusing on the mental health field.
- Any high school senior who will pursue the mental health field may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they have volunteering experience and if they will be a first-generation college student. The ideal candidate shares the values of kindness, patience, and service leadership and has continued to push through even in the face of adversity or setbacks. Additionally, individuals who have personally or indirectly experienced the effects of mental health are preferred.
Submission: To apply, tell us what mental health career you’ll pursue and why, how you practice kindness, patience, and servant leadership, and how you showed resilience or support in a time of adversity. You may also upload a photo of something or someone you are proud of, though this step is optional.
